Are young people getting a raw deal in the property market?

It looks like young people and property don’t match and we need to ask if young people are getting a raw deal in the property market.

We know how difficult it is for people to save enough to get onto the property market but it now looks like the same difficulties are facing those wishing to rent

No wonder parents are having to face the reality of having their children around for much longer than they had anticipated.

According to Property Wire “Some 700,000 young people aged 18 to 34 cannot get onto the renting ladder, hit by a combination of rising deposits and rents, landlords not wanting young tenants and poor credit histories.”

We shouldn’t expect much to change soon “given that on average almost four people apply for each rental property, the scales are heavily tipped towards the landlord”, according to Jacqueline Dewey, managing director of Noddle, the credit scoring agency.
